ECapital

Chinese dinner in Chinatown.  Sean worked in Soho again Friday so I wandered down in the evening and met him for a pint and dinner.  We had a beer at a pub that we just wandered upon (not hard to do in London).  We had an 8:30 booking at a Chinese restaurant highly recommended by TimeOut, [...]

The Windsor Castle

It’s not just a castle, it’s also a pub on Campden Hill Road.  It came highly recommended by a friend so Sean and I met there Thursday night.  I arrived first and it was crowded.  I ordered a pint and waited for Sean.  The pub has several small rooms connected by tiny (think 5 feet!) doorways, [...]

Prawn Cocktail Crisps

I just had to try them. They really taste more like cocktail sauce than like prawns. Despite having “prawn cocktail flavour” listed in the ingredients, the bag does mention that they are “suitable for vegetarians”. Stef did end up trying them, but she was not overly impressed.

Wagamama

Sean spent a couple of days working out of the Soho office this week so I met him for lunch on Tuesday.  We went to the Wagamama directly behind the MS building. Wagamama is an Asian restaraunt, part of a chain, which really seems to focus on the professional lunchtime crowd. I’m guessing that they do 90% [...]

London Film Festival

The London Film Festival started this week.  It’s the 50th festival so there has been much hype about it.  Since Sean and I have been Seattle Film Festival members for 5 years and have seen no more than 3 films in that time, I decided I was going to see some LFF films.

The Borough Market

Today we took the tube over to the Borough Market (just south of the Thames)…it took us a bit longer than anticipated to get there as there were planned closures on the tube and we weren’t aware of them until we arrived at our (closed) station. Once we did finally arrive, we went in [...]

The first full week…

15 Oct – 21 Oct
Monday was another day spent wandering around London. My final destination was Covent Garden Market but I explored the theater district on the way. I have six shows that I want to see while we are here – Spamalot, Wicked, Avenue Q, Mamma Mia, The Wind in the Willows [...]

Portobello Star

Portobello Star is a nearby pub that was recommended to us by Kate.  We had a few pints there last night with a friend.  Great atmosphere with an older, mellow crowd and super 80’s background music (that was not too loud).  The 2.5 hours we spent there flew by quickly (could have been the beer, [...]
